Stop Worrying About the Outcome — Start Owning Your Output
Everyone Wants Step 10… While They’re Still on Step 2
There’s a pattern I’ve seen over and over—people trying to skip steps, trying to jump ahead, trying to lock in step 10 when they haven’t even earned step 2. And the truth is, I’ve watched it happen enough times to know exactly how it plays out.
One of my reps said to me recently, “I want to see what we can do to get her daughter in so we can sign them up too!”
It was one of their first meaningful appointments after a long stretch of no answers and dead calls. I could see the excitement all over them—finally getting a real shot to help someone in person.
They broke down every detail of the conversation, the prospect, and even the daughter. I let them talk. I listened. And when they finished, I looked them straight in the eye and said:
“Slow down.
Don’t think about anything or anyone except the person in front of you.
Be present. Follow the steps. Help them first.
We’ll worry about the daughter later.”
The look on their face said everything.
They weren’t expecting it.
It felt like I had popped their bubble.
But I wasn’t shutting down their excitement - I was grounding it.
What they didn’t realize was that they were already looking past the most important task of the moment—already thinking about the next win before they secured the first one.
The Hard Truth: You Can’t Jump Levels
Most people crumble because they’re mentally living in the future instead of working in the present.
When you focus on the outcome, you get distracted.
When you focus on the output, you get results.
That rep wasn’t wrong for being excited, but they were wrong for letting their focus drift. The pattern is universal:
lack of presence
rushing the process
skipping foundational steps
wondering why the outcome never matches the expectation.
You don’t earn level 10 by thinking about it.
You earn it by mastering level 1, then level 2, and staying locked in on what’s directly in front of you.
What To Do Next
Your future is shaped by your output today, not the fantasy of tomorrow.
You want big outcomes?
Narrow your focus.
Be in the moment.
Master the rep right in front of you.
Your job isn’t to control the finish line.
Your job is to control your form, your discipline, your execution right now.
Choose presence over prediction.
Choose execution over expectation.
Stack enough focused reps and the outcome becomes inevitable.
Your Move
Be brutally honest with yourself:
Are you actually working the step you’re on?
Or are you too busy fantasizing about the step you haven’t earned yet?
