This Is A Sign That You Are Loved
I remember walking into work in the 5AM twilight on Valentine’s Day six years ago.
Taped to the outside of what is now Duo’s Taqueria — Duolingo’s super cool restaurant where you can practice your español — was this piece of art.
I had been following Baron Batch’s art drops for a while, and I thought to myself:
“Holy shit… I found one.”
Well — turns out it wasn’t his.
And to this day, I still don’t actually know who the artist is.
But I love the message.
It only felt right that it be framed and placed on the steps as you enter SHAPE.
Even though your trainers and your gym might not be the first place you think of when it comes to being loved… we absolutely do love you more than you may ever realize.
That sign might be the most accurate one you’ll see before walking through our doors.
The 5 Love Languages
Remember the 5 Love Languages?
If you’ve never heard of them, they are:
Words of affirmation
Gift giving
Acts of service
Quality time
Physical touch
We may not be the best place to fill all five.
But you will absolutely get your fill of:
Acts of service
Quality time
And varying degrees of words of affirmation depending on who you’re working with 😂
And don’t forget — sometimes the most meaningful acts of service are the ones you commit to for yourself.
The Ultimate Form of Self-Love
Don’t ever forget how much we care about you — and how far we are willing to go to spend quality time helping you build strength, resilience, and confidence.
Committing to your physical and mental health may be one of the best gifts you could ever give yourself.
Showing up.
Training.
Building strength.
Taking ownership of your body.
That is self-love in action.
So on this slightly spooky Valentine’s weekend…
Remember:
You are loved.
And one of the best ways to spread love
is by starting with how you treat your own body.
